Financial Literacy in Sri Lanka Schools: The Subject We Needed Earlier

Many Sri Lankans first learn how to manage money only after leaving school and being forced to do it alone. From 2027, Grade 6 students are expected to begin learning Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. As someone who entered university without a real understanding of personal finance, I see this as one of the most useful parts of the education reform – provided we teach children how to use the knowledge, not simply how to write it on an examination paper.
